Paddling The Raritan River
- July 5, 2002

he pictures below are from
our day trip paddling down a
stretch of the Raritan River. We put-in
on the canal in Manville, NJ, near the
site of "The Yellow Rose" to bypass a
series of dams in the river. We then ported
the canoes to the river just before the first overpass of I-287. The river then wound through industrial sections of Bound Brook. After the second I-287 overpass, the water level became shallow for the stretch parallel to Easton Ave. The water level became tidal and rose around Landing Lane Bridge and Route 18 in New Brunswick. A short break was taken at Johnson's Park to bid farewell to Thomas and Stacie. The rest of the crew continued on and concluded trip at Donaldson Park.
